Facilities and Property Management ( FPM ) serves all members of the Portland State University ( PSU ) community. FPM takes a tremendous amount of pride providing an appealing campus environment in a professional and friendly fashion. The facilities and grounds at PSU consist of over 5 million square feet of facilities and approximately 50 acres of grounds and are the university's largest asset. FPM is charged with the stewardship of this asset which contributes to attracting and retaining students, faculty and staff. The department staff works together as a dedicated team to create and maintain a superior and vibrant urban campus learning environment.

Position Summary

The Trades Maintenance Worker 2 in Facilities and Property Management ( FPM ) is responsible for a variety of building maintenance related tasks. Activities undertaken by the position include maintenance, repairs and replacement of equipment found in offices, classrooms, laboratories and common areas; building architectural systems and elements typically involving windows, doors, glazing, insulation, floor coverings, projection screens, furniture, locks, ceilings, gutters and stairs. This position will also perform work such as rough concrete installation and removal, carpentry, pressure washing, painting, and site cleaning.

Primary Activity A - Administrative

Minimum Qualifications from Classification

-Three years of general building maintenance experience in one or more of the following trade areas: carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, and welding.

NOTE : Some positions may require licensure or certification in a specific trade area.

Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position

Possession of a valid State-issued driver's license.

Successful completion of a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background in painting and drywall repair.

Experience with woodworking and metal fabrication.

Experience with small engine maintenance and repair.

Demonstrated ability to lead small teams in construction, maintenance and repair tasks.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement

The starting salary rate for this position will be between $14.74 and $16.68 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience, (plus a monthly retention bonus equal to ten percent (10%) of salary), with an excellent benefits package including 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities.

Pay Range Between $14.74 and $16.68 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience (plus a monthly retention bonus equal to ten percent (10%) of salary)
