Bon Appetit is seeking a Culinary Director, at the top of their game, to join our team in Silicon Valley to lead culinary for the Google Food Program. Manage a high volume, multi unit culinary program with the vision to inspire, enable the world to make food choices and use food experiences to develop more sustainable lifestyles, communities that support people being their best.  Based on the program's vision and mission, the Google Food Team has developed a clearly defined strategy that puts a strong emphasis on collaboration, innovation, the responsible business framework, and behavioral economics. Our Culinary Team team exists to bring to life and deliver this Food Program and its values.


The Culinary Director is accountable for leading all food programs according to Bon Appetit's goals and priorities in the areas of culinary excellence, innovation, food quality, presentation, cost and chef development. 

Some of the great things you will be expected to lead:

 

  • Manage and own the overall culinary experience, not just the offerings, for a growing campus of cafes and an expanding catering operation.

  • Provide strategic leadership to the culinary team, in line with our business goals
    and objectives.

  • Instrumental in developing an active and engaged culinary community.

  • Work with culinary team to develop and maintain culinary training and skill building programs for chefs and cooks; partners with HR/Talent Development Team.

  • Forward thinking in terms of efficiencies, control of waste, food safety, food or labor costs, environmental considerations, food trends and cuisines.

  • Partner in new cafe concept and menu development (as well as refreshes) in partnership with the client, focusing on innovation and calibration to user needs

  • Advise on kitchen layout optimization including selection of equipment and development of layout efficiencies.

  • Leads culinary refinement and optimization of current cafes including culinary guidance for continuous improvement and innovation

  • Communicates with our partner honestly, accurately and in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree from an accredited Culinary Institute, or equivalent degree

  • 15+ years of executive-level culinary management in a multi unit setting. Proven experience leading a large, complex and high volume culinary program with progressive management responsibility.

  • Expert knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation

  • Think fast, use technology - Finds new/quicker ways of meeting goals, shows conviction in own judgement and decisions and responds quickly under pressure

  • Passion for Quality - Takes personal responsibility for correcting service problems,  sets demanding performance expectations and sets priorities to maximize

  • Win through Teamwork - shares own knowledge and insight and displays a high level of energy and commitment to the organization
