Advance Local, The Patriot News, needs a well-rounded team member with a mechanical aptitude to work full-time in our climate controlled production facility. If night shift work is your preference, this is the job for you! Candidates for this full-time position will support our packaging and commercial print operation. We produce The Patriot News three times a week and produce other daily and weekly newspapers from throughout the PA and Maryland region. Packaging duties involve operating cart loading machines, bundle and wrapping equipment, and inserting advertising materials into inserting equipment. Candidate should have the ability to work well under tight deadline and in a team environment. Candidate needs to demonstrate willingness to learn new assignments and ability to follow safety protocol. Nightly packaging runs mean this position will involve scheduling based on production needs. Starting rate is $17/hour. Flexible work schedule, weekends and holidays needed. Hours are 5 pm to 1 am.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand on concrete surface for most of shift, capable of bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting bundles of newspapers weighing up to 40 lbs. Must be able to move wheeled carts of bundles without assistance. Must also possess good hand to eye coordination and the ability to work around heavy equipment. While personal protection is provided, must also be able to work in environment where noise and exposure to dust, solvents, oil and ink are present.
