The IAA requires all new employee to be fully vaccinated prior to employment. “Fully-Vaccinated” means there have been two weeks since receiving the second (2nd) dose of the Pfizer or Moderna Vaccine or the one (1) dose of the Johnson & Jonson vaccine. New employees will be required to submit their vaccination records upon day one of employment.
General Summary
The Manager, Environment will primarily be responsible for helping and assisting to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and conservation regulations and standards and to assist IAA in meeting and exceeding its environmental policies.
Essential Functions
- Manage the IAA's storm water and deicing control systems to ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform and maintain working knowledge of operating, maintenance activities and environmental best practices relevant to IAA's storm water deicing control facilities.
- Manage Department Staff.
- Provide oversight and direction to direct reports.
- Coach, counsel, mentor and develop direct reports, including oversight of performance reviews and providing career development planning and opportunities.
- Empower direct reports to take responsibility for their job and goals, delegating responsibility and expecting regular feedback and accountability.
- Lead direct reports to regularly exercise the organizations five (5) Strategic Pillars of Customer Service, Economic Development, Stability & Sustainability, Workforce Development and Community Engagement.
- Coordination as needed with IAA Departments on matters relating to the Conservation Management Area, storm water and deicing system, wildlife, and vegetation for IAA properties
- Accommodate IAA's development for cost-effective operations to minimize any environmental impact on all IAA airports
- Perform activities associated with environmental regulatory compliance by IAA, including permit application and implementation. Permits such as Title V air permit, Industrial Pretreatment Permit, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Permits and any other city, state and federal environmental regulatory requirements
- Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability with Properties and retail divisions to ensure environmental compliance and adherence to IAA environmental policies at all properties and by all tenants
- Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability to proactively work with each IAA Division on all matters related to environmental management and compliance and environmental and sustainability policies
- Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability as needed in preparation and management of FAA budget (capital and operating) for environmental programs and as otherwise directed
- Stay abreast of local, state and federal environmental and related guidelines, policies, regulations, legislation and funding revisions and opportunities and work within IAA to address any new/revised requirements and opportunities.
- Communicate impacts and opportunities to airport officials and assist in developing and implementing appropriate strategies
- Proactively work to avoid environmental releases on IAA properties and to promptly and effectively remediate existing contamination sites
- Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability in IAA environmental and sustainability policies
- Assist Director, Environmental and Sustainability in all aspects of individual Capital Improvement Plan project development and implementation as it relates to the stormwater and deicing control facilities and to projects affecting or involving environmental compliance.
- Initiates, in conjunction with other departments, education and training to ensure that employees are equipped to operate the airport in an environmentally responsible manner
- Provides input and directional objectives to achieve departmental strategic objectives in line with FAA strategic goals
- Performs any other functions assigned by Director, Environmental and Sustainability
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university environment management, environmental science or a related field
- Ten to twelve (10-12) years of environmental experience within the public and private sectors
- Strong leadership skills with minimum two to three (2-3) years of experience managing direct reports
- Ability to provide strategic focus
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, tenants, government officials, airport officials and fellow employees
- Knowledge of applicable permits and regulations required for airport operations
- Ability to effectively impact tenants and airport entities to ensure regulatory compliance for IAA
- Ability to meet schedules and deadlines
Physical Requirements
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, sit, use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, balance, stop, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25+ pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license. Use of a computer and other personal assistance devices (tablets or mobile phone) are a must for this position.
- Work Environment: This position is performed within an office environment at least 80% of the time. The other 20% the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. With multiple worksites the noise level varies from the office environment and the outside environment. The incumbent in this position is expected to work independently and as part of the team.
